Cathlene Leary-Elderkin has been involved in grants development and management in higher educations for more than 15 years. Cathlene earned graduate degrees in botany as well as scientific and technical communication from Miami University and her baccalaureate degree in plant science from Rutgers University. She has served in several higher education grants roles including grant writer, grants administrator and most recently, provider of faculty professional development of pre-award grants development. She has led grants teams in the development of multi-million dollar projects funded by the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Labor, and NASA. Cathlene has several years of experience teaching grant writing to a variety of audiences— from nonprofits personnel to community college faculty to 4-year college administrators. She is the past president of the N.J. Council of Resource Development, an organization dedicated to enhancing grantsmanship at N.J.’s 18 community colleges. Cathlene will also soon have international faculty development experience teaching grant writing and fundraising in May 2018 at Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek in Croatia.
