Training Overview
So the book you want to teach is banned… Now what?
Last week, the New York Times announced, “Book ban efforts are spreading across the U.S.” On “The Daily Show,” LeVar Burton encouraged kids to read banned books.
Despite these book bans, you may want to teach some literature that lawmakers and even families find objectionable. Now is an ideal time to evaluate and broaden the instruction in your classroom.
You can select diverse literature to expand students’ views, provide an understanding of others’ experiences, and foster growth. Text selection is a medium for inclusion and equity.
